How many days will building take?
Most standard backyard fences take two to four days, depending on ground hardness, line length, and clearing needs. A typical custom deck takes three to seven working days once concrete footings are poured and set. Complex multi-level designs, covered roofs, or weather delays will add time. Are permits required before starting?
That depends on where your home sits. Cities and counties have different rules regarding fence heights and deck square footage. Elevated decks and attached structures almost always require a local building permit. What happens when ground is steep or rocky?
Slopes and rocky dirt are standard around here. For fences on hills, we either step the panels down in flat sections or rack the rails so they hug the ground without leaving gaps. On sloped deck builds, we dig concrete piers deep into stable dirt or anchor post brackets into solid rock, keeping the deck surface level and rigid regardless of the incline below.
Does wood need frequent sealing around here?
